Chapter 102 Sang Bai Is Harassed
Shen Ruizhang's gaze fell upon Jiang Yunzhou, as if he awaited an answer.
Jiang Yunzhou had not expected these two to bring up her marriage in such a public setting, and now the eyes of everyone around were fixed on her. Though she cared little for others’ opinions, she could not entirely ignore the feeling of being watched as if she were some spectacle.
“Shen Ruizhang! This isn’t the time for this conversation. We can discuss it later!” she said, her voice terse.
Shen Ruizhang understood Jiang Yunzhou’s attitude, and his heart ached all the more. Through gritted teeth he declared, “I disagree! I will not divorce you! Absolutely not!”
Jiang Yunzhou pressed her lips together, her cold expression growing ever more impatient. “Don’t forget why we married.”
“I haven’t forgotten! Since you agreed to marry me, I see no reason to consent to a divorce!”
No sooner had he spoken than Shen Tingxiao lost his patience; fists clenched, he swung directly at Shen Ruizhang’s face.
Shen Ruizhang, stunned by the blow, reacted without hesitation and struck back. The two began to brawl, and those nearby retreated two steps, making no attempt to intervene.
Jiang Yunzhou was shocked by the sudden outbreak and hurriedly called out, “Stop it! Shen Tingxiao, Shen Ruizhang! Stop now!”
No matter how she shouted, the two men refused to desist.
It was only when a commanding voice rang out that they finally ceased.
Jiang Yunzhou pressed her lips together, her gaze lingering on their bruised, battered faces. “You’ve turned the anniversary celebration into this mess. There will be plenty to talk about now!”
With that, she cast a fierce glare at Shen Tingxiao. He was, after all, a member of the main branch of the family; to fight so carelessly with Shen Ruizhang would definitely require an explanation. Moreover, there were plenty of people watching, and after today, many would surely rush to report what had happened.
“Hmph, she’s truly a vixen. Not only is she shameless, but she’s greedy, always looking for more. I can’t imagine how Shen Tingxiao and Shen Ruizhang could both have such poor taste!”
“Indeed. Still, I admire her, to have two men fighting over her like this!”
“Who knows how many generations of bad luck the Shen family must have suffered to let a woman like that marry in. You all better keep your eyes open when choosing daughters-in-law—never let such a vixen into your home, or you’ll regret it.”
The spectators chattered gleefully, each word sharp and biting.
Shen Tingxiao’s eyes turned dark; he clenched his hand, the crack of his knuckles echoing in the hall.
“It seems your mouths truly do stink. Even standing this far away, I can smell it,” he retorted.
The women who had been whispering fell silent, glaring at Shen Tingxiao, but his status surpassed theirs and they dared not provoke him further.
They stepped back awkwardly.
Jiang Yunzhou tugged at Shen Tingxiao’s sleeve. “Enough, stop talking.”
She gazed at the bruise on his face with concern. “Go and put some medicine on that.”
His handsome face had been marred, and she feared his parents would blame her.
Shen Tingxiao’s parents approached, their eyes flickering over both him and Shen Ruizhang, then settling on Jiang Yunzhou.
“Miss Jiang.”
Jiang Yunzhou gave a faint smile.
Shen Tingxiao’s mother looked her up and down coldly. “As expected, nothing but trouble. No matter where you go, you bring disaster.”
Jiang Yunzhou’s smile faded, but she said nothing.
Shen Tingxiao spoke, his tone icy. “Mother is right. If she’s so improper, why did you treat her as a treasure? Or do you simply enjoy calling trouble precious?”
His mother paused, “When did I ever…” but then her expression darkened, as if recalling something.
“Shen Tingxiao! Mind your manners!”
Shen Tingxiao couldn’t be bothered; as his mother and he were about to argue, Jiang Yunzhou grabbed his hand and quickly led him out of the banquet hall.
Behind them, Shen Ruizhang watched their departure, his face clouded.
“You shouldn’t have said that!” he muttered.
Jiang Yunzhou drew Shen Tingxiao into the Shen family’s rear garden.
Shen Tingxiao laughed. “There’s nothing wrong with what I said. You’re here for the banquet, not to be insulted.”
“I knew what to expect when I came. There’s no need for you to do this for me, especially in the Shen family…”
She did not want Shen Tingxiao to disrupt his plans because of her.
“This is what I should do as your fiancé. If I didn’t, I’d be no better than Shen Ruizhang,” he replied, even now unable to resist taking a jab at Shen Ruizhang.
Jiang Yunzhou smiled despite herself. Seeing the wounds on his handsome face, she couldn’t help but ask, “Do you have a first aid kit at home? Let me treat your injuries.”
“I do.”
Shen Tingxiao brought her to his room, placing the kit before her.
Jiang Yunzhou carefully cleaned his wounds.
“In the future, don’t resort to violence so easily,” she said.
Shen Tingxiao pressed his lips tightly together. After a moment, he said, “I dislike Shen Ruizhang, especially since he wants to tie you to him for life through marriage! I can’t stand it!”
Jiang Yunzhou’s heart softened.
“It won’t happen. I have my own way to make him divorce me,” she assured.
“Then… do you still like him?” he asked.
Jiang Yunzhou’s brows rose slightly. “What do you think?”
Shen Tingxiao’s expression darkened at once. Watching his quick shift, Jiang Yunzhou couldn’t help but marvel—his mood changed faster than the turn of a page.
“Don’t like him. He doesn’t deserve you. In his heart, Miss Zhou was always his first choice,” Shen Tingxiao said.
His words made Jiang Yunzhou pause in silence.
Shen Tingxiao grew anxious seeing her quiet.
But this was truly how he felt.
“You don’t believe me?” she asked after a while.
Shen Tingxiao replied softly, “I’m just afraid.”
He had waited so many years; sometimes he feared it was all just a dream. When he woke, he would still be left standing in the shadows.
Jiang Yunzhou never expected Shen Tingxiao to feel insecure. She let out a helpless laugh, just about to speak when her phone interrupted them.
Shen Tingxiao looked up at her.
Jiang Yunzhou glanced at the caller, puzzled, and answered.
“What is it?”
“Sister Jiang, Sang Bai is in trouble!”
Jiang Yunzhou immediately grew anxious. “Tell me exactly what happened. Where is Sang Bai? She was supposed to be with her film crew, wasn’t she?”
She was flustered, and Shen Tingxiao quickly tried to soothe her. “Don’t worry, take it slow.”
