Chapter 035: Aura of Luck
Lin Feng pulled Li Xueming aside and confided his thoughts to him. Li Xueming had already found the car accident suspicious, and after hearing Lin Feng’s analysis, he became even more convinced that something was amiss. He immediately promised to thoroughly investigate the incident. Lin Feng, in turn, gave him a direction to pursue—the name Wang Chunsheng.
All signs pointed to Wang Chunsheng’s involvement. Everything he had orchestrated seemed to have a single purpose: to prevent Lin Feng from appearing on the court for the Game Seven showdown.
Although Lin Feng suspected a conspiracy, he was powerless to change the fact that the road was blocked. With no other choice, he returned to the car.
It was already six-thirty; Lin Feng’s phone had completely run out of battery, cutting him off from the outside world. There was still an hour before the match began, but the drive to North City would take over an hour. Even if he left immediately, he would still be late.
If he waited for the rescue team to clear the road, he would surely miss the decisive match!
What could he do?
Both Lin Feng and Qin Ruolin were pacing anxiously in frustration.
Wait, I still have the Superstar Kidnap System!
With this thought, Lin Feng quickly logged into the system store and bought a Luck Aura. After his record-shattering performance in the last finals game, he had acquired enough points to be considered rather wealthy—spending 200 coins on a Luck Aura was no issue at all.
Following the system’s prompt, Lin Feng activated the Luck Aura on himself.
System notification: Your item ‘Luck Aura’ has been activated. Duration: three minutes. Countdown begins…
2 minutes 59 seconds!
2 minutes 58 seconds!
2 minutes 57 seconds!
This was Lin Feng’s first time using the Luck Aura, but after witnessing the power of the Curse Aura, he had high hopes for this one.
Knock, knock…
Just after the Luck Aura was activated, Li Xueming hurried over and knocked on Lin Feng’s car window.
Because Qin Ruolin was so famous, her car windows were covered with privacy film, so no one could see inside. But Li Xueming had seen Lin Feng get into this car earlier, which is why he came over to knock.
“Officer Li, is something the matter?” Lin Feng lowered the window and asked.
“There’s a way to get to North City now…” Li Xueming started, only to stop in surprise when he saw who was in the driver’s seat.
“Qin—Qin Ruolin?” Li Xueming blurted out her name, much to Lin Feng’s astonishment. Li Xueming was already in his fifties; was he a fan, too?
“Hello, I’m Qin Ruolin,” Qin Ruolin greeted him graciously.
“Oh my, I can’t believe I’ve met two celebrities today!” Li Xueming exclaimed excitedly. “Miss Qin, my daughter is your biggest fan. Our house is covered with your posters. I thought you looked familiar, but I didn’t expect it to really be you! Could I get your autograph for her? She’d be thrilled!”
“Of course, that’s no problem,” Qin Ruolin replied with a smile. “If you can help us get to North City quickly, I’ll even give your whole family tickets to my concert!”
“I can help, I can help! That’s exactly why I came over,” Li Xueming said, barely containing his excitement. “One of my colleagues just arrived to help, but since the patrol car couldn’t get through, he came on a police motorcycle. I told him about Lin Feng being stuck here, and we discussed it—we can lend you the police motorcycle. The only question is, do you know how to ride?”
He directed the last question to Lin Feng.
“I do!” Lin Feng’s spirits lifted at the mention of the motorcycle; the Luck Aura was really working.
“Great, then get going! The motorcycle is still slower than a car, but if you leave now, you might make it for the second half,” Li Xueming said.
Lin Feng nodded, then turned to Qin Ruolin. “Will you wait here or come with me?”
“Of course I’m coming with you!” Qin Ruolin shot him a look, then turned to Officer Li. “Can I leave my car with you for now?”
“No problem at all! Don’t worry about anything here,” Li Xueming said heartily.
“Thank you so much!”
“No need! It’s my honor to help you both.”
Lin Feng and Qin Ruolin got out of the car, immediately drawing the attention of the other drivers stuck in the jam. Now, with something else to occupy them, the bored drivers whipped out their phones to snap pictures and post them on social media.
Quite a few even ran over asking for autographs, but pressed for time, Lin Feng and Qin Ruolin had to decline. However, the news of the two being stranded on the Yanbei Expressway spread rapidly online, further fueling rumors about their relationship.
“Officer Li, lending us the motorcycle won’t get you in trouble, will it?” Lin Feng asked anxiously as he mounted the bike.
“It’s fine, this is a special situation. I’m just doing a good deed!” Li Xueming laughed.
“Alright, we’ll be off then—see you!” With no time to lose, Lin Feng started the motorcycle. Qin Ruolin hopped on the back, her delicate hands lightly encircling Lin Feng’s waist—their first moment of intimacy.
This affectionate scene was, of course, captured by the stranded drivers…
But Lin Feng and Qin Ruolin paid no mind. Lin Feng weaved the motorcycle through the gaps between trucks and the roadside, speeding away.
Watching their figures disappear down the road, a truck driver sitting at the roadside quickly dialed a number.
…
North City Stadium.
The Jiangning coaching staff was in a frenzy. The game was about to start, and Lin Feng was missing!
“Coach Shen, there’s news about Lin Feng!” Zhou Mingxuan ran over to Shen Ziqiang, phone in hand. “A netizen posted on Weibo saying Lin Feng and Qin Ruolin are together, stuck on the Yanbei Expressway. Looks like there’s no way he’ll make it before tip-off.”
“Stuck on the Yanbei Expressway? How could there be a traffic jam?” Shen Ziqiang was perplexed.
“They say a truck overturned and blocked the entire road,” Zhou Mingxuan explained.
“Is that so?” Shen Ziqiang’s brow furrowed deeply. Without Lin Feng, Jiangning’s already shorthanded team would have little hope of winning.
Is Jiangning doomed to be eternal runners-up?
After a long silence, Shen Ziqiang suddenly stood up and declared, “Even without Lin Feng, we have to fight to the end. Since we’ve made it this far, there’s only one goal: the championship!”
“Yes, Coach Shen! We’ll give our all for the title!” Zhou Mingxuan, Han Dajun, and the others replied in unison.
…
North City team’s locker room.
Wang Chunsheng received a call from his nephew, Shen Quan.
“Uncle, bad news! Lin Feng is headed toward North City on a motorcycle.”
“What? A motorcycle? Where did he get one?” Wang Chunsheng frowned upon hearing Lin Feng was on his way.
“The traffic police lent it to him.”
“Alright, I understand. Keep quiet and don’t slip up!” Wang Chunsheng hung up, thought for a moment, then dialed another number. “Lin Feng is coming to North City on a police motorcycle. Stop him at all costs. I must have this championship!”
