Volume One: The Calamity of the Lich Chapter 172: Reforging the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation, Now Even More Formidable
At the moment when countless forces of earth, water, fire, and wind converged, Azure Myster swiftly produced a grand cauldron.
“Now is the time!”
He pointed toward the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation, casting both the formation disk and the four Immortal-Slaying Swords directly into the Cauldron of Creation.
After completing this, he brought forth the Lantern of Chaos and Creation.
“Forged with the divine fire of chaos and the flames of creation—I hope it will not disappoint me!”
Countless grayish, indistinct fires of chaos, elusive in form, burned directly upon the formation disk and the four treasured swords.
“Amazing, this material is a rare supreme treasure within chaos itself. Falling into Rahu’s hands was truly a waste, like pearls cast before swine!”
“Yet, it’s no wonder. If not for this material, Rahu could never have harnessed the bloody aura and the earth’s veins to forge such a peerlessly vicious formation within the primordial world.”
Upon purifying the formation disk and swords, Azure Myster discovered that the materials used to forge the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation were, in fact, chaotic azure crystal—capable of containing any substance. It was precisely by leveraging this property that Rahu succeeded in creating the Sword Formation.
“What a pity, the amount of chaotic azure crystal he obtained was somewhat scant, otherwise this marvelous treasure might have reached even greater heights!”
“Still, for the current primordial world, it is sufficient—any further advancement would disrupt the balance!”
Azure Myster sighed softly.
Seeing the four swords begin to radiate a misty azure light, he drew upon the Red Lotus of Karmic Fire and the White Lotus of Purity.
Two flames emerged from them and entered the Lantern of Chaos.
For a moment, Azure Myster was pleasantly surprised.
“I never expected that this lantern could still be improved!”
Indeed, as the two flames entered, he noticed the lantern grew slightly stronger—though the change was subtle, imperceptible to all but the most powerful.
“Never mind, I’ll leave it be for now. The treasure at hand is more important.”
With that, Azure Myster drew forth the lantern’s flames, directing the gathered essence of heaven and earth into the Cauldron of Creation.
The four forces—earth, water, fire, and wind—were divided: half infused into the formation disk, half into each of the four swords.
“In this way, this treasure is far superior to its former self!”
---
Carefully observing the refining process, Azure Myster meticulously monitored the state of the treasure.
As the four elemental powers entered the four Immortal-Slaying Swords, the power of fire surged into the Immortal-Slaying Sword, earth into the Trap Immortal Sword, water into the Massacre Immortal Sword, and wind fused with the Absolute Immortal Sword. The remaining halves of the four elemental powers merged with the formation disk.
Once complete fusion was achieved, Azure Myster activated the Cauldron of Creation with full force.
“It’s fortunate that the materials for this treasure are extraordinary, and that I have spent years nurturing the cauldron itself, otherwise forging this set would have been impossible!”
As he refined, Azure Myster marveled inwardly.
The Sword Formation is unique—unlike any other spiritual treasure. Though called a treasure, it consists of four swords and a formation disk. Yet its fame rivals, and even surpasses, several innate supreme treasures.
As Azure Myster’s countless Dao Rhythms manifested, he engraved innumerable restrictions upon the formation disk and the four swords, as easily as moving his hand.
When the number of restrictions reached its limit, golden light surged from Azure Myster, and he continued imprinting countless more before finally stopping.
With everything complete, he let out a breath of relief.
“Excellent, it has reached the level of an innate supreme treasure. It hasn’t been diminished in my hands—otherwise, I would have been disgraced!”
Azure Myster gazed with satisfaction at the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation suspended within the Cauldron of Creation, nodding approvingly.
With a casual gesture, the four swords and the formation disk appeared in his hands.
He focused his mind, stretched out his right hand in a sword gesture, and pointed outside the Hall of Pangu. The four swords broke through the void, pierced the restrictions of the divine hall, and appeared around Mount Buzhou.
“Impressive, they possess such abilities. If used unexpectedly, this could deal a severe blow to the enemy!”
Azure Myster felt quite pleased with his masterpiece.
Now, cleansed of their baleful aura, the four swords radiated an even sharper sword energy, surpassing their previous form.
Previously, the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation was powerful, but only when the four swords and the disk were united as a formation. Separated, each sword was merely somewhat stronger than a superior innate spiritual treasure, unable to compare with the highest grade.
This, of course, depended on the wielder’s ability to suppress the swords’ baleful aura.
---
Through Azure Myster’s refinement, the swords had become far more versatile.
Each sword now reached the level of the highest-grade innate spiritual treasure, and together in formation, they rivaled their former power.
“Now, the formation can stabilize heaven and earth, trap enemies, and attack autonomously. It has gained many functions, though it lacks the former eerie and murderous aspect.
The baleful aura and immortal light once frightened countless beings; in summary, before it was defined by ‘strangeness,’ now it is defined by ‘sharpness!’”
Azure Myster then beckoned, summoning the four swords back.
Yet, he was unaware that as the four swords appeared at Mount Buzhou, countless primordial powers sensed the immense strength contained within the treasure, its sharpness striking terror in their hearts.
In the Purple Cloud Palace, Hongjun also noticed the change as the four swords appeared.
“Strange, why do the Immortal-Slaying Four Swords appear at Mount Buzhou? Could it be that Azure Myster knew I gave these to Tongtian, and simply took them from him?”
Hongjun quickly shook his head.
“That can’t be. Azure Myster surely knows that the Three Pure Ones have been accepted as my disciples. He isn’t someone who would snatch treasures from the younger generation!
Moreover, the swords have completely changed—the baleful aura is gone, they’re sharper, and more powerful. How on earth did he achieve this?”
No matter how he pondered, Hongjun could not fathom how Azure Myster had accomplished this, nor what his purpose was.
Meanwhile, Azure Myster himself was oblivious to the secret impressions his actions had left upon Hongjun’s heart.
Of course, even if he knew, he would not care.
“Now that the treasure is complete, I can return it to Tongtian!”
After toying with the Sword Formation for a while, Azure Myster mused thoughtfully.
He too, like many of his compatriots, had once longed for this treasure.
Yet unexpectedly, it had fallen into his hands and been completely transformed.
“Indeed, the world is ever-changing!” Azure Myster sighed.
He then stowed away the Cauldron of Creation and turned his gaze toward the five lotus platforms rooted in this place.
