Volume One: The Lich Cataclysm Chapter 166: Demonic Script Merges with Bloodline, The Grand Primordial River and Luo Formation
Seeing this, Kunpeng swiftly produced the palace treasure he had refined, setting it above his head. In the next instant, countless thunderbolts, like the wrath of the end times, descended relentlessly upon him. Fortunately, the palace treasure Kunpeng had crafted shielded him from the onslaught. By now, Kunpeng had created the demon script, a complete set of three thousand characters. Yet, he sensed that something was still missing—a subtle, mysterious feeling he could not shake.
"What exactly am I lacking?" Kunpeng mused, fending off the raging thunder while pondering deeply.
Fuxi and the others, observing Kunpeng’s predicament, sensed that something was amiss. "What is Kunpeng up to? Has he not already created the demon script? Why does it feel as though he still falls short?" Taiyi grew even more anxious than Kunpeng himself.
Yet for all Taiyi’s questions, none present could give him an answer. The demon saints and demon kings watched the figure amid the thunder with worried eyes. "Don't fret. Let’s wait and see," Fuxi could only offer this much comfort to Taiyi.
As confusion reigned among them, suddenly, Reception and Quasi-Ti slipped silently behind the group. "Senior brother, who would've thought they are all here for what Kunpeng holds in his hand? Looks like we’re in for quite the show," Quasi-Ti remarked gleefully.
Reception, already aware of Quasi-Ti’s intentions, turned his gaze to Kunpeng's current state. "Strange... Kunpeng has already created the script. Why not proclaim it to Heaven and complete the final step?"
Though spoken offhand, his words fell on attentive ears. Enlightened by this, the assembled demons suddenly understood. As they debated whether to remind Kunpeng, they saw him standing bathed in thunder, yet the lightning seemed not to harm him. Instead, it continuously tempered his physical form.
Kunpeng, their source of worry, was suddenly graced with a flash of insight—not into cultivation, but into the demon script he had created. In these times, most newborn demons had some knowledge of cultivation. Though postnatal beings grew in number, they could still survive easily in the vast wilderness and gradually embark on the path of cultivation.
Thus, Kunpeng realized that fully seizing this opportunity was far from simple. In the end, he recalled the legends of the dragon clan. In ancient times, there were far fewer dragons. Though dragons were by nature lustful, even they could not rely solely on purebloods to stand among the Three Patriarchs. The other two clans faced similar circumstances. The Ancestral Dragon, by refining countless materials, had created the Dragon Gate, which transformed scaly creatures into dragons.
With this in mind, Kunpeng suddenly opened his eyes, took out several drops of his essence blood, and dripped them onto the jade tablet. He then looked up to the sky and solemnly declared to the Heavenly Dao:
"Heavenly Dao above, today I, Kunpeng, perceive that the beings of the primordial world are ignorant, unable to comprehend the Great Dao. Thus, I create a new thing, called script. Drawing from the legacy, I have also grasped a method to absorb and devour spiritual energy, aiding all beings to embark on the path of cultivation, so that the legacy may be passed on through the bloodline."
After taking this step, Kunpeng found he was only halfway to success. The cultivation method he had just comprehended worked for the demon clan, but was too limited in scope. Therefore, he turned his gaze to the demon clan members of the Heavenly Court standing by.
Seeing this, Bai Ze and Fuxi immediately understood his intent. They quickly instructed the demon saints and demon kings nearby, "Hurry, everyone, offer your essence blood to the legacy script!"
At once, the demon kings and saints forced out their essence blood and brought it to Kunpeng. Only when every drop was gathered did Kunpeng realize that the legacy was now flawlessly complete.
"Heavenly Dao above, today I, Kunpeng, create the demon script. With the essence blood of countless demon clan powers as the medium, I engrave this legacy into the bloodline of the demon clan. The demon legacy, the demon script—complete!"
As Kunpeng finished, boundless primordial spiritual energy gathered and poured into the jade tablet before him. Thunderbolts continued to strike the jade. When, at last, a dazzling purple-red flame ignited within the jade, the thunderclouds dispersed entirely.
Kunpeng had nearly reached his limit, yet the matter was not quite over. "Quick, while now is our chance, seize the legacy from Kunpeng's hands!" Taiyi urged the assembled demon kings.
No sooner had he spoken than the demon kings, demon saints, and the demon emperors themselves surged forward. Suddenly, a vast field of merit condensed above Kunpeng. Three parts descended upon the jade and the brush, fusing them into a set of merit spiritual treasures. Two parts fell upon Taiyi and his companions, divided equally among them.
The remainder of the merit fell upon Kunpeng himself. As it merged with him, Kunpeng was struck by inspiration, gazing at the two treasures in his hands. He immediately infused all the merit into both treasures. Before the demon clan members could react, he shouted, "Cut!"
In that instant, two middle-aged Daoists, each bearing a striking resemblance to Kunpeng, manifested before the assembly. Kunpeng's aura soared, multiplying in strength until he broke through to the mid-stage of the Quasi-Saint realm.
The two treasures, now housing Kunpeng's incarnations, remained merit spiritual treasures. Though only of high innate grade, they were intrinsically linked to the fortune of the demon clan. Of course, these were not the only fate treasures of the demon clan; many remained unaware that Nuwa already possessed a supreme innate spiritual treasure—the Demon Summoning Banner. Once one's soul was imprinted upon it, one would be subject to its command.
Kunpeng laughed heartily, "Now my power has soared at last. All these years of forbearance have not been in vain."
He then looked toward Taiyi and the others. "And now, do you still dare to make trouble in front of me?"
With a flourish, Kunpeng transformed into a gigantic beast, jaws gaping wide. Taiyi and his companions sprang into action, drawing the demon kings to their side and swiftly retreating. "Be careful! Kunpeng’s strength has grown immensely. Only by joining forces can we hope to match him!"
With that, Taiyi and the other two stood at the forefront, shielding their kin from harm. The rest promptly formed the Grand River Luo Formation, drawing battle lines in an instant.
Kunpeng, flanked by his two incarnations, faced Taiyi and his allies. "What, do you think numbers alone will help you prevail against me?"
The standoff grew ever more tense, as both sides prepared for the struggle to come.
