Seeing this, Hongjun turned directly to the Lord of the East and said,
“Lord of the East, you were born from the purest innate masculine energy. Today, I appoint you as the chief among all male immortals of the Great Wilderness. Are you willing?”
The Lord of the East was overjoyed by these words and swiftly bowed in gratitude.
“I am willing. Thank you, Sage!”
“In that case, I bestow upon you the Dragon-Headed Staff. If any dare to defy you, deal with them as you see fit!”
“Thank you, Sage, for granting me this treasure!”
Hongjun then turned his gaze toward the Queen Mother of the West.
“Queen Mother of the West, you were born from the purest innate feminine energy of Heaven and Earth. Today, I appoint you as the chief among all female immortals of the Great Wilderness. Are you willing?”
“I am willing. Thank you, Sage!”
“In that case, here is the Supreme Innate Spiritual Treasure—the Purifying Water Bowl. Keep it by your side for protection!”
“Thank you, Sage, for granting me this treasure!”
The Queen Mother of the West accepted the Purifying Water Bowl, thanked Hongjun with dignity and composure, and put it away.
Then, countless great beings watched as Hongjun produced another item.
Curiosity filled their eyes as they looked at him.
“Now that the Great Wilderness is destined for nine Sages, one must rely on the Primordial Purple Qi to attain sainthood. Yet, the Way of Heaven is incomplete and leaves one path unaccounted for.
I used one strand in the past; seven remain. My disciples shall become Sages.”
With these words, Hongjun tossed the Purple Qi from his hand, and it transformed into six strands, each entering the primordial spirit of the six disciples of the Three Pure Ones.
Finally, Hongjun glanced at the last remaining strand of Primordial Purple Qi in his hand, and at the countless powerful beings in the grand hall, all watching him with yearning in their eyes.
He sighed.
“As for this last strand of Primordial Purple Qi, let it seek its fated owner on its own!”
With a wave of his hand, the final strand of Primordial Purple Qi soared into the hall.
Everyone watched, hoping to be the fortunate one chosen.
But to their disappointment, no matter what they did, the Primordial Purple Qi would not acknowledge any of them.
Eventually, the strand circled the hall, then flew to Hongyun and swiftly merged into his primordial spirit.
It was so fast that Hongyun did not even have time to react before the Purple Qi had already taken root within him, remaining unresponsive to any attempt to affect it.
Meanwhile, the Ancestor Kunpeng, witnessing this scene, instantly reddened his eyes and glared at Hongyun with a sinister gaze, as if he wished to tear him apart right then and there.

Hongyun, however, was oblivious, engrossed in studying the Primordial Purple Qi within his primordial spirit.
At this moment, countless eyes turned to Hongjun on the dais.
Hongjun spoke,
“In ancient times, I collected countless spiritual treasures across the Great Wilderness. After I deliver three sermons, attaining perfect merit and uniting myself with the Dao, these treasures will become useless to me. So, I grant them to you! All are placed outside the palace at the Treasure Division Cliff; you may go and take them!”
Hearing this, countless beings hurried out of the palace, heading straight for the Treasure Division Cliff.
The Three Pure Ones, united in strength and formed from pure energy, arrived first at the site where the treasures were stored.
Upon reaching the Treasure Division Cliff, they gazed at the countless magical and spiritual treasures with burning desire.
The Elder of Supreme Purity, feeling an inner prompting, immediately summoned his companion treasure—the Tower of Heaven and Earth’s Mysterious Yellow Elegance.
He cast it over the Treasure Division Cliff and began collecting treasures.
After obtaining more than a dozen items—including the Map of Heaven and Earth, the Sheep Fat Jade Purification Bottle, the Seven-Star Sword, the Wind and Fire Meditation Mat—he found himself unable to take any more.
Seeing this, Supreme Purity stopped and made way for his two younger brothers.
Primordial Origin followed, using the Celestial Auspicious Cloud Cover to collect dozens of innate spiritual treasures,
Among them were the Yin-Yang Mirror, the Heavenly Treasure of the Dao—the Primordial Treasure Box, the Downfallen Bell, the Eight Trigram Immortal Robe, the Primordial Banner, the Water and Fire Flower Basket, the Pure Glazed Bottle, the Dragon-Escape Stake, the Dragon-Tiger Sword, and other innate treasures.
Yet, like his elder brother, he could not claim the remaining treasures.
So, Highest Clarity stepped forward and set the Sword Array of Immortal Execution, instantly gathering over a hundred innate spiritual treasures, making Primordial Origin envious.
Among these were the twenty-four Sea Stabilizing Beads, the Primordial Gold Goblet, the Dragon-Tiger Jade Scepter, the Four Symbols Pagoda, the Sun and Moon Pearls, the Taiji Talisman Seal, the Dragon-Binding Rope, and other innate treasures.
After the Three Pure Ones collected their treasures, the others arrived.
Nuwa, seeing this, brought out the Map of Territory and Society, collecting the Lotus Lamp, the Five-Colored Stone, the Innate Spiritual Pearl, and more than a dozen treasures.
The two Western Sages, Receiving and Guiding, gathered more than a dozen innate spiritual treasures, then moved on to some acquired treasures.
The rest were claimed by Hongyun, Kunpeng, Fuxi, and others.
Emperor Jun obtained the Sun Essence Wheel and other innate treasures; Xihe received the Moon Essence Wheel and similar treasures.
The Lord of the East and the Queen Mother of the West each claimed several innate and acquired spiritual treasures.
After everyone had taken their turn, they noticed that countless treasures still remained on the Treasure Division Cliff.
They tried again to claim more, but to no avail.
As they attempted, all the remaining treasures on the cliff transformed into streams of light and scattered across the Great Wilderness.
Among them, one mirror shaped like a dressing table and a treasure resembling a well flew toward Mount Tai.

Some flew to the territory of the Wu Tribe, where the mighty Wu warriors collected them.
Items such as the Soul-Hooking Chain and the Mourning Staff, though classified as innate spiritual treasures, were mostly functional and lacked offensive power.
But since the Wu Tribe’s strength was marked by physical prowess, they had little interest in these treasures that suddenly landed among them.
Instead, Hou Yi directly obtained a bow-shaped treasure emanating profound icy energy—an extremely rare supreme innate spiritual treasure.
“Excellent, excellent! Not only is this a supreme innate spiritual treasure, it perfectly suits the heart of this Wu. From now on, it shall be the exclusive treasure of Hou Yi!”
Clearly, Hou Yi was greatly pleased upon receiving the bow.
Yet, Hou Yi did not know that as he acquired this treasure, Qingkong atop Buzhou Mountain was also aware.
“Ah, perhaps this is the turning of fate. After all the twists and turns, things still connect as before? I hope it does not affect him, and may it not end as the old legend foretold!”
Qingkong, however, was unaware that Changxi had already reached Primordial Golden Immortal. And because of this thought, events indeed took a different course than expected.
But that is a story for another time, not to be discussed now.
Back in the Purple Cloud Palace, after countless treasures flew away of their own accord, many remembered the direction in which they went, planning to search for them when opportunity arose.
Some received no treasures at all, others only a few acquired ones.
Many, seeing the treasures fly off, immediately set out in pursuit.
The Three Pure Ones and others, having collected their treasures, returned directly to the Purple Cloud Palace. At this time, a thousand years remained before the sermon concluded.
After the six had arrived, a few clever individuals trickled back as well.
Seeing this, Hongjun resumed his teaching.
As a thousand years passed, Hongjun halted his sermon. The audience dispersed.
When only the six remained, Supreme Purity’s heart stirred.
“May I ask, Master, are there any further matters to heed regarding the items used to sever the corpse?”
Hongjun replied,
“Since you ask, I shall tell you.
For the items used to sever the corpse, the higher their quality, the better. Those of the same origin are most effective, but such items are rare. Therefore, quality is paramount!”
