Chapter Seventy-Eight: Genius, Nothing More
As Tang Yuan gave the order, those around him rushed forward. These men were not soldiers, but the guards of the Tang Prince’s residence, each possessing formidable strength; the weakest among them had reached the seventh stage of body refinement, while the strongest had even entered the Sea of Wheels realm.
Their numbers were considerable—more than thirty in all. With so many experts attacking together, even a master at the Divine Bridge stage would struggle to withstand them. Yet to Chu Han, these men were no different from ordinary mortals.
They launched their assault from all sides, but Chu Han remained motionless. Their blows landed on him with explosive force, raising clouds of dust. Tang Yuan and Tang Feng exchanged knowing smiles; even they would suffer grievous injuries if they tried to endure such an onslaught.
To them, Chu Han was doomed. Once he was dead, eliminating Tang Hao would be effortless, and they would have nothing to fear from retribution.
Reality, however, proved far removed from their expectations. When the dust settled, Chu Han stood before them completely unscathed, as though the attacks had struck someone else entirely. Not even his garments bore the slightest mark.
Witnessing this, Tang Yuan and Tang Feng were aghast. Such powerful attacks had failed to so much as scratch Chu Han; it was beyond anything they had imagined.
“Ha, it’s neither painful nor itchy. It seems your Tang Prince’s residence isn’t much after all. Now it’s my turn. Thunder’s Might.”
Chu Han snorted coldly and raised his right hand. A bolt of lightning as thick as an arm descended from the heavens, forming a massive sphere of electricity that enveloped everyone nearby. As the thunder crackled and snapped, the sound made their hair stand on end.
The guards cried out in agony, collapsing to the ground. Unable to resist the paralytic force of Chu Han’s lightning, they were all gravely injured, lying helplessly, unable to rise.
While the electric sphere raged, Tang Yuan and Tang Feng had already retreated to safety, watching Chu Han with grave expressions. His strength far exceeded their expectations.
“Well, it seems I must handle this myself. Your power is impressive, but before me, you are nothing. Today, I’ll show you what true genius means.”
Tang Feng stripped off his shirt, a look of excitement on his face. It had been a long time since he encountered an opponent worthy of him, and Chu Han’s display of strength thrilled him. Tang Yuan nodded in approval.
He had utter confidence in Tang Feng’s abilities; after all, Tang Feng was acclaimed as the Imperial Capital’s foremost genius. Defeating Chu Han should be effortless. “Make it quick. The more I look at him, the more annoying he becomes.”
“Don’t worry. Let’s see how many moves he can withstand in my hands.”
Tang Feng chuckled darkly, drawing a longsword from behind him. Instantly, a layer of yellow flame enveloped the blade, its scorching heat warping the air.
With his aura leaking forth, Chu Han easily discerned Tang Feng’s realm—Dual Palace of the Dao. For his age, it was remarkable and merited the title of genius, but in Chu Han’s eyes, it still fell short.
Tang Feng launched his attack—not swift, but broad in scope. With a sweeping motion, the sword sent flames surging toward Chu Han, sealing off every avenue of escape.
Yet Chu Han had no intention of dodging. Before their eyes, he raised his right hand, waved it before him, and dispersed the flames with ease. “Is this all you have? If you think this paltry fire can harm me, your so-called genius is nothing but a facade.”
“Very well, since you put it that way, I won’t hold back. It’s been ages since I fought with my true strength. I hope you can endure a little longer. Blazing Sword Technique!”
Tang Feng’s face darkened at Chu Han’s taunt. He snorted coldly and rushed forward—not fast, but his attack speed was terrifying. In an instant, he thrust his sword at Chu Han four times.
Chu Han responded with a cold snort, tilting his head to evade the blows. Blue lightning crackled around his right fist as he struck Tang Feng’s sword, the immense force driving Tang Feng back step by step.
“Thunderstrike Palm!”
Chu Han shouted, leaping into the air and bringing his palm down upon Tang Feng. Lightning gathered above, forming a giant palm that enveloped Tang Feng.
Tang Feng, however, remained composed, parrying the Thunderstrike Palm with several deft sword moves. He then lunged forward with blinding speed, aiming for Chu Han’s head.
Chu Han raised his right hand to block the sword, spun his body to close the distance, and struck Tang Feng’s wrist with his left hand. The sword slipped from Tang Feng’s grasp and fell to the ground.
Chu Han’s right fist then crashed into Tang Feng’s chest, sending him flying and slamming hard to the earth. In a single instant, their contest was decided; Chu Han’s power left Tang Feng trembling, as if struck by a charging rhinoceros, his organs shaken to their core.
The sight left Tang Yuan above pale with fright. Chu Han’s strength unsettled him deeply; he had never imagined even Tang Feng was no match for Chu Han. His face was grim as he jumped down, intent on taking matters into his own hands.
His strength surpassed Tang Feng’s, having reached the Fourth Palace of the Dao, but in actual combat, he was little better than Tang Feng and certainly not Chu Han’s equal. He planned to join forces with Tang Feng.
“Tang Feng, can you still fight? Let’s work together. We’ve misjudged this man—his power is terrifying,” Tang Yuan said in a low voice.
Tang Feng nodded and rose unsteadily, fear in his eyes as he looked at Chu Han. Chu Han’s strength had truly frightened him.
“Oh? You want to join forces? Perfect, it’ll save me trouble—I’ll settle you both at once. Qilin!”
Chu Han snorted, raising his right hand as lightning gathered there, transforming into a gigantic qilin in midair. Its eyes blazed red as it roared at Tang Feng and Tang Yuan.
The two were stunned. They had never witnessed such an attack. The massive qilin towered over them, and then it charged.
Facing this assault, they dared not be careless. Both raised their hands, conjuring a defensive shield before them to repel the qilin’s onslaught. Yet the qilin was relentless, battering the shield again and again with its mighty claws.
Feeling the qilin’s immense strength, their defense was strained, but they could only grit their teeth and persist, uncertain what fate awaited them if the shield failed.
Seeing them withstand the qilin’s attack, Chu Han smiled slightly, continuing to command the qilin to press the assault.
At that moment, the qilin dissolved into lightning, enveloping both men. The tremendous force shattered their shield, and as the lightning assaulted them, their bodies were paralyzed and they lost consciousness. Chu Han strode forward and drove his fist into Tang Yuan’s chest.
He smashed Tang Yuan’s ribs, sending him flying in a spray of blood, landing motionless, his fate uncertain. Tang Feng lay unconscious nearby. Chu Han grabbed him by the collar, regarding him as one would a dead dog.
“A genius, are you? Sorry, but I specialize in beating so-called geniuses. Yours are sorely overrated.”
Just as Chu Han was about to finish him off, a burst of flame shot forth, striking Chu Han’s wrist. He let out a muffled grunt and released Tang Feng, his gaze fixed intently on the direction from which the fire had come.
