Watching these people argue until they were red in the face, Zhang Fang felt deeply disappointed. They were short-sighted, concerned only with immediate gains and incapable of planning for the future. Once the Wolf Tribe truly had the capacity to invade the Eastern Wasteland, these sects would be left with nothing but death.

"Enough! Stop bickering. Just tell me whether you will send your people or not. This is the consensus reached by the three great sects; you had better think this through clearly."

Zhang Fang’s expression was grim. His plan had been ideal, yet he had underestimated the ugliness of human nature. Before such people, his plan was fundamentally unworkable.

"Master Zhang, what is the meaning of this? Are you trying to use the three great sects to pressure us? I, for one, am not buying it. If you push me too far, I’m done with this."

"Exactly. The three great sects are a thing of the past. Nowadays, our sects are no less powerful than the three great families. Perhaps we should just replace them altogether."

The crowd erupted into chatter once more, but this time, the hostility was directed entirely at Zhang Fang, with some even voicing the desire to usurp the three great sects.

Chu Han found their thoughts so foolish they almost made him laugh. These people clearly lacked the wits to see that the three great sects had controlled the Eastern Wasteland for years; how could they possibly have nothing to show for it? They were complete idiots. A ragtag bunch like them wouldn't stand a chance against the three great sects; all of them combined probably wouldn't even be enough to satisfy the three great sects’ appetites.

Meanwhile, Zhang Fang’s face grew increasingly dark. Just as he was about to erupt, a disciple of the Wind God Sect rushed in. He was covered in blade wounds and pale-faced, clearly having survived a brutal battle. He endured his agony to whisper a few words into Zhang Fang’s ear. At first, Zhang Fang remained composed, but as the disciple spoke, his expression turned ghastly. He waved the man away and fixed his gaze on the room.

"The Wolf Tribe’s invasion has begun. You can go outside and see for yourselves just how powerful they are. This is the defense of the Eastern Wasteland; if you do not fight, you will only wait for death. Decide for yourselves."

Zhang Fang spoke coldly. Chu Han was startled—had the Wolf Tribe moved so quickly? It shouldn't have been possible; the Wolf Tribe’s current strength was nowhere near enough to contend with these sects.

The people around them began to murmur, but several sect and family leaders looked troubled. Chu Han noticed them and, as if realizing something, stood up, ready to strike.

At that moment, those very men made their move first. They blocked Zhang Fang’s path and sealed the room with a barrier before laughing maniacally. "You fools, you are no match for our great Wolf Tribe. Once we occupy the Eastern Wasteland, we will take good care of you."

The room was in an uproar. There were traitors from the Wolf Tribe among them, and they had trapped everyone here, preventing them from returning to lead the defense. With the Wolf Tribe driving deep into their territory, they might actually succeed in conquering the Eastern Wasteland.

Fortunately, only Zhang Fang was trapped here. The Wind God Sect and the other two great sects were still outside and could participate in the battle, which would hopefully hold the Wolf Tribe back for a time.

Meanwhile, Chu Han took action. He lunged forward, grabbed one of the traitors by the throat, and smashed him into another. With a loud bang, the two bodies hit the wall, leaving a massive crater, but the blue barrier remained intact; they still could not get out.

The others vented their rage on the Wolf Tribe traitors, and the scene descended into chaos. Chu Han shook his head; this was useless. These were merely suicide soldiers of the Wolf Tribe who had known the consequences of their actions from the start. He needed to find a way out.

Chu Han felt a twinge of self-reproach. He had underestimated the Wolf Tribe. Their plan was seamless, and they must have launched the war early because they knew their positions had been exposed. Meanwhile, they had been left in the dark; the intelligence gap was insurmountable.

"What do we do? We can't get out, our sects are finished!"

"Yes, our elders are in seclusion. Without us, no one can find them!"

"Find a way out, quickly!"

The crowd panicked. If they could not leave, their sects would be doomed. These were the high-ranking members of their respective families and sects; only they knew the locations of the elders currently in seclusion. The remaining disciples were no match for the Wolf Tribe.

Ignoring the noise, Chu Han used his perception to examine the barrier. Fortunately, those who had set it up were only at the Spirit Bridge Realm. Although the barrier was sophisticated, it had a flaw, which he quickly identified.

"Move aside, a bunch of trash."

Chu Han walked forward with a cold expression and shoved the others away. His shout silenced the room.

However, once they heard his words, they exploded. "Boy, who are you calling trash? You’re the trash! Do you believe I’ll kill you right now?"

The speaker was the Sect Master of the Nine Dragon Pavilion, who looked vicious. During the negotiations, he had been the most adamant in his opposition and was the type who would never let himself suffer a loss.

"So what if I call you trash? Master Zhang tried to reason with you, but you refused to listen. Now you're in a hurry? If you weren't still of some use, I would have killed you myself. Get out of my way."

Chu Han spoke coldly, then released a surge of powerful internal energy that forced the surrounding men back several steps. Sensing his strength, they were resentful but dared not speak or act further.

He walked to the flaw in the barrier and struck it with a heavy fist. With a sharp crack, the barrier shattered, and everyone regained their freedom.

They rushed out of the room frantically, eager to return to their sects to take command, but they stopped dead in their tracks at the sight before them. It was a living hell.

Chu Han stepped outside to find the ground littered with corpses—masters from the great sects mixed with commoners. Wolf Tribe warriors were slaughtering everyone in sight, sparing no living thing, not even the innocent.

Furious, Chu Han launched himself into the air. A bolt of lightning descended, and with his overwhelming power, he smashed a massive crater into the ground, incinerating the surrounding Wolf Tribe warriors into charred husks.

If it was this bad here, it must be worse outside. Chu Han rushed toward the gates of the Eastern Wasteland City. A great battle had already begun, and more importantly, civil unrest had broken out within the city.

The traitors in the room were not an isolated incident; rebellions had occurred in all their respective families. The Wolf Tribe had already infiltrated half the families and sects in the Eastern Wasteland, launching a massacre from within that was impossible to guard against.

Chu Han quickly found Zhang Fang, briefed him on the situation, and urged him to organize the defense against the internal rebellion, while he led the elites of the Wind God Sect toward the battlefield outside the city.

After doing this, Chu Han led his men out. Facing tens of thousands of opponents, he felt a chill of trepidation. He was shocked—when had the Wolf Tribe grown into such a massive force? There were at least tens of thousands of them, a dense, swarming sea of heads.

But there was no time to think. He charged into the fray and struck a man in the chest, sending him flying. The man lay motionless on the ground, yet minutes later, he rose as if nothing had happened and roared as he rejoined the battle.
