Chapter 127: The Slaughter
For transcendent beings, nuclear weapons are not actually as terrifying as one might imagine. After all, the core fireball produced by a 150-kiloton mushroom cloud has a radius of less than half a kilometer, and the destructive power of its shockwave covers a radius of less than four kilometers.
Moreover, this power is significantly diminished when used in foreign lands. Transcendent beings are typically tough-skinned and durable; as long as they aren't hit dead-center and caught by the core fireball, it is very difficult to kill them instantly. Of course, the true horror of nuclear weapons lies in the massive radiation they produce after the explosion and their terrifying ability to destroy permanent structures, which is what the intelligent beings of this world fear most.
However, the place where these Titans are currently located is not their territory, so even if it were blown to smithereens by a mushroom bomb, they wouldn't care. Conversely, if they were well-prepared, low-yield mushroom bombs would struggle to inflict any substantial damage on them. When the Black Dragon called in tactical missiles to "warm up the field," it was indeed just a warm-up; he never expected them to do any real damage to these Titans. Naturally, if there were any thick-headed Titans among them who wanted to test their physical bodies against a nuclear bomb, that would be even better—Huang Ze would certainly applaud their courage!
The higher-ups quickly approved the Black Dragon's request. In fact, they had recently been considering similar nuclear testing plans—originally, they had intended to launch a 50-megaton mushroom bomb into the sky to strike and intimidate the gods. But after the Black Dragon took a trip to the Astral Realm, Academician Ding and his team began to oppose the plan. The situation in the Astral Realm is complex, and the attitude of the gods seems ambiguous. If they were to rashly strike with a "big mushroom," it could lead to unpredictable consequences, and forcibly flexing their muscles might instead provoke collective outrage. Furthermore, a 50-megaton bomb is incredibly expensive to produce, and since the Xia Kingdom’s uranium resources are not exactly abundant, it was only natural to use them sparingly.
Thus, the plan was eventually shelved, and the already-manufactured "big mushrooms," like all others, were sent to secret launch bases for combat-ready storage. As for the dragon scale material contributed by the Black Dragon, it was applied to small tactical nuclear missiles. After all, these are more convenient to produce, use, and store, and are more economical, allowing for mass production.
Soon, a 50-kiloton tactical nuclear missile came whistling in, with another following two or three minutes behind. With the dragon scale powder coating, the suppression of the missiles by foreign laws was significantly reduced, and they were now traveling at speeds exceeding Mach 4. It remained to be seen what the actual yield would be; that would only be known once it detonated.
"Let’s move back a bit..." Considering that the yield of the original "Little Boy" was less than 20 kilotons, these 50-kiloton missiles were already considered heavy hitters. Huang Ze felt he should show at least some reverence, so he took the Red Dragon and retreated several kilometers.
"Strange... why aren't they running?" Huang Ze noticed that the Titans on the ground remained motionless, which left him somewhat puzzled—did they not know the power of a mushroom bomb, or did they not realize at all that this was actually a mushroom bomb?
The leader of the golden-haired Titans soon answered the Black Dragon's doubts with his actions. He pulled out a large golden bow from nowhere, drew the string without an arrow, and conjured a golden arrow of light out of thin air. Without much aiming, he shot it casually in the direction of the incoming missile.
"If you can actually hit that, I will—" Before Huang Ze could finish his sentence, he saw the missile shot down mid-air, bursting into a blinding light.
"Damn... they're that strong?" Huang Ze was shocked. Being able to shoot down a missile traveling at over Mach 4 with a bow and arrow—was this guy cheating?
"Mr. Deus... that is very likely an artifact!" the Red Dragon said solemnly. "The Titans have a very deep foundation. After all, in their former world, they were true god-kin; they have many powerful treasures at their disposal!"
An artifact? Can an artifact just ignore the laws of physics? Huang Ze was somewhat unconvinced, though he was mostly curious. The bow clearly functioned like an energy weapon—it didn't even need a quiver, as it could generate its own arrows, and its accuracy was incredibly high, almost as if it had a built-in homing function. This wasn't just an artifact; it was technology far beyond black technology!
"I wonder if I could dodge that arrow if it were aimed at me..." Huang Ze couldn't help but think. He felt a sudden sense of realization—he probably could dodge it, though he didn't know where this confidence came from.
"Mr. Deus, let's get out of here quickly. I told you these Titans were not to be trifled with." Seeing that the group of Titans seemed to be heading in their direction, the Red Dragon panicked and urged the Black Dragon.
"No rush, wait a moment longer..." Huang Ze stared fixedly at the golden bow in the blonde Titan’s hand. He felt an intense urge to make it his own, and his desire to kill these Titans became even more resolute. He was certainly not going to be a deserter.
Just then, the second tactical missile arrived, appearing in the Black Dragon's line of sight. A thought struck him, and he quickly came up with a plan. The casing of this missile was coated with dragon scale powder he had ground down himself, and it had even been tempered and consecrated in his own dragon blood. This meant the missile bore the Black Dragon's mark, and he could project his consciousness onto it!
He acted immediately, projecting his consciousness onto the missile, becoming a rebellious tactical missile with a mind of its own!
The golden-haired Titan clearly did not realize this. He remained slow and imposing as he drew his string, intending to repeat his feat and shatter this missile as well. But at the very moment he was about to release the string, Huang Ze’s pre-warmed brain suddenly began to overclock frantically. The flow of time in his field of vision began to slow down infinitely, nearly coming to a complete standstill.
This was the second time Huang Ze had experienced this, and it was significantly more real and profound than the last! Huang Ze tried to move his body, intending to rush over and slaughter all those Titans while the world was trapped in a temporal stasis, only to find it extremely difficult—it was as if his body were frozen, unable to move even the slightest bit.
"It seems that for now, only my consciousness can enter this state; my physical hardware cannot keep up." Huang Ze realized. He had previously thought that he had gained super-speed and super-thought processes like the Flash, and that in a static frame of reference, time would naturally appear to slow down, allowing him to master the laws of time and bully opponents with slower reaction speeds. Unfortunately, his ability was not yet well-developed; currently, only his brain could overclock, while the rest of his body remained locked at the normal flow of time.
