Chapter 128: A New Sister Appears
Thor: “???”
Loki: “???”
Compared to the five onlookers casually watching the drama unfold, three question marks simultaneously appeared above Thor and Loki’s heads.
What’s going on?
Thor was unusually stunned. All this time, he had believed himself to be the eldest son of the family, with Loki as his younger brother, and had always held himself to the responsibilities of an older brother.
But today, unexpectedly, he found out that he, like Loki, was actually a younger brother.
Likewise, Loki was equally perplexed. Although he was adopted and had never cared much for Thor as an older brother, that didn’t mean he could easily accept the arrival of another sister.
There was only one throne, and three siblings competing meant no one would gain anything.
What if this new sister turned out to be even more foolish and reckless than Thor?
More importantly, Odin said he was dying.
And before his death, he revealed the existence of this sister. What did that mean?
Thor and Loki exchanged a glance, suddenly realizing that there were things happening beyond their knowledge.
Thor guessed this sister might be adopted, while Loki suspected she could be even more troublesome and reckless than Thor.
As the two pondered, Odin’s next words shocked them even more.
“Your sister is a mistake I made in my youth.”
!!!
Thor and Loki stared at Odin in astonishment.
Their suspicions were confirmed.
The brothers shared a look and nodded simultaneously, understanding each other’s thoughts.
This sister was probably not exactly legitimate.
Who would have thought that the so-serious Allfather had such a scandalous past in his youth?
---
The five onlookers continued watching with interest.
Odin fell into a nostalgic reverie.
“Once, I took your sister with me across the cosmos to wage war. I shaped her from a well-behaved little girl into a fierce swordswoman. As she grew, her ambition became uncontrollable. She began to distance herself from me and launched conquests on her own. At that time, the peoples of the Nine Realms were all overshadowed by her.”
“She grew more and more tyrannical, demanding absolute obedience from all—whether Asgardian warriors or other realms. More and more feared her. As her power expanded, she became unstoppable and refused to heed my counsel. In such circumstances, I had no choice but to seal her away.”
“Seal her?”
Thor and Loki, along with the five onlookers, all turned to Odin.
“Yes, a seal.”
“Her power was too immense. I had to imprison her. Her strength comes from Asgard and grows as long as Asgard endures. Over the years, even I have grown weary and unable to suppress her ever-increasing might.”
At this, Odin suddenly patted a nearby stone, inviting Thor and Loki to sit beside him, then began to impart his final words.
“Thor, Loki, my children, my time has come to depart. You must stop Hela. The future of Asgard depends on you. You must prevent Ragnarok. If not, not only Asgard but all Nine Realms and the entire universe will fall into crisis.”
At this moment, Odin was like an old father, speaking closely and earnestly to his two immature sons.
“Loki, remember, magic isn’t always the answer. Use your wit and treat your brother kindly. Though he doesn’t say it, he loves you, and so do we.”
“Father.” Loki choked up slightly.
“Thor, you must understand—you cannot rely solely on your hammer. It’s not omnipotent. You are the Thunder God of Asgard. Your power comes from Asgard’s will, not the hammer in your hand. You must learn to think for yourself.”
Odin knew Roald was watching, waiting patiently as he laid out what needed to be said, scattering the necessary smoke and mirrors before preparing to vanish.
After cautioning Loki and Thor, Odin pointed toward the sea ahead.
“Children, don’t forget our home. I have told you all you need to know. Remember my words—no more reckless behavior. You must grow quickly. Now, I must disappear.”
Before Thor and Loki could react, Odin transformed into golden particles and vanished.
“What?!”
Thor and Loki stood up simultaneously, both stunned, silently watching Odin’s golden particles fade away.
---
They hadn’t expected Odin to die just like that—so abruptly.
Roald witnessed everything, just as Odin had planned, keeping a close watch.
“Hmph, at least he had some self-awareness in his departure,” Sindragosa snorted softly, peering through the light veil hiding the obelisk, her lips curling in disdain as she watched Odin dissolve into golden particles.
“Looks like after Odin’s disappearance, the death goddess Hela will make her appearance, yes?” Sindragosa asked Roald, standing beside her. Grommash, Vikan, and Kel’Thuzad also turned their attention.
“Yes. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. Not just the five onlookers, but even the two heirs of Asgard, and Hela herself, are all within my plan.”
Roald’s moment had arrived.
Though it was unclear if the five onlookers possessed the Infinity Stones, with Gamora present, there was still a way to bring Thanos. Having the stones would be better, but lacking them wouldn’t be a loss for Roald.
Just as Thor’s anger began to rise while looking at Loki, a ripple appeared in the air before them, instantly putting both the five onlookers and Thor and Loki on alert and ready for battle.
Before long, a dark green portal formed in front of them.
Amid the spatial ripple, a woman in a dark green gown with long black hair stepped out of the void, standing before Thor, Loki, and the five onlookers.
“I didn’t expect to be so popular.”
Hela looked at the seven before her, then at the still stunned Thor and Loki. “Are you all mourning that old man?”
“Hela?”
Loki instinctively asked, bewildered by the sudden appearance of this woman—the death goddess Hela herself.
“Yes, my dear, you’re very clever. Prepare to meet your queen.”
“No, I refuse to acknowledge your existence.”
With a crackle of electricity, Mjolnir appeared in Thor’s hand, ready to be hurled at Hela.
