Chapter 21: The Boulder Badge, An Attack by Team Aqua!

When Dujuan sent out her second Pokémon, it was indeed Nosepass. Zhang Feng chose not to switch Pokémon and kept Forest Lizard in battle.

However, compared to the ground- and rock-type Geodude, Nosepass is purely rock-type, so it naturally resists water- and grass-type moves much better. Forest Lizard would not be at a quadruple disadvantage.

Likewise, Nosepass has Magnetism, allowing it to use electric-type moves. Thus, underestimating this Pokémon and sending out a water-type against Nosepass would likely lead to a disastrous defeat.

Forest Lizard, being a grass-type Pokémon, also has some resistance to electric moves. Standing on the ground, electric attacks might even conduct through the earth, leaving it unharmed.

Therefore, Zhang Feng still planned to use Forest Lizard against Nosepass.

Winning the Kanaz Gym with just one Pokémon would be a remarkable achievement.

“You’re a confident trainer, Nosepass. Let’s show our opponent our strength—use Thunderbolt!”

At Dujuan’s command, Nosepass immediately gathered magnetic energy, converting it into electricity and swiftly releasing it.

Suddenly, the battlefield was engulfed in yellow electric currents, crackling with fierce energy that spread throughout the Kanaz Gym.

Seeing this, Zhang Feng urged Forest Lizard, “Forest Lizard, use Quick Attack to close in on Nosepass!”

Although Forest Lizard was fast and could accelerate further with Quick Attack, Thunderbolt is an indiscriminate attack.

The electric currents grazed Forest Lizard, and it winced in pain from the onslaught.

“Hold on, Forest Lizard! Now, use Leaf Blade on Nosepass!”

With Zhang Feng’s command, Forest Lizard let out a fierce roar as a surge of wild energy erupted from its body.

Its arms glowed with sharp green blades, slashing fiercely at Nosepass’s head.

The resounding clash of metal and rock echoed loudly, causing Nosepass to cry out in pain.

“Good! Well done! Forest Lizard, use Energy Ball!”

At close range, Forest Lizard opened its mouth wide as a deep green energy sphere slowly formed before it.

Dujuan’s expression grew anxious as she watched.

“Nosepass, use Magnetism to dodge Forest Lizard’s attack!”

Just as the Energy Ball was about to hit, Dujuan’s command came swiftly.

Responding to her trainer, Nosepass radiated a blue magnetic glow and, using its magnetic properties, suddenly changed its position to evade the devastating blow.

Zhang Feng was taken aback. Magnetism could be used in such a way?

“Excellent, Nosepass! Show Forest Lizard your power—use Power Gem!”

At the moment Forest Lizard’s attack failed, Nosepass began to gather energy. A colorful orb formed before it.

In the next instant, the orb exploded, blasting Forest Lizard backward.

Forest Lizard cried out in pain as it was struck hard.

“Forest Lizard!”

Thrown backward by the powerful hit, Forest Lizard struggled to get up.

“Good, finish it! Nosepass, use Rock Blast!”

As Forest Lizard lay heavily injured and unable to rise, Nosepass summoned a new move.

Suddenly, numerous rocks appeared out of nowhere, falling to the ground and completely enveloping Forest Lizard.

Dujuan’s face showed unmistakable confidence.

“Blast!”

“Defend!”

At the moment the Rock Blast exploded, Zhang Feng’s calm voice echoed in Forest Lizard’s ears.

In the nick of time, a thin green shield appeared around Forest Lizard—a perfect use of Protect!

When Protect is used without a significant power gap between opponents, it almost completely nullifies incoming attacks.

Thus, the Rock Blast inflicted no damage on Forest Lizard.

Instead, as the rocks exploded and dust filled the arena, even Dujuan and Nosepass lost sight and sense of direction.

“Forest Lizard, use Seed Barrage! Fire and locate Nosepass!”

With Zhang Feng’s command, a rapid green barrage burst forth.

Fueled by Forest Lizard’s blazing fury, the already potent Seed Barrage intensified, striking Nosepass directly.

Enraged by the heavy hit, Nosepass prepared to retaliate—but it was too late.

The Seed Barrage revealed Nosepass’s position perfectly.

Once again, the combination of Quick Attack and Leaf Blade struck.

As the dust slowly settled, Dujuan saw only a flash of green light before Nosepass collapsed, losing the ability to fight and falling onto the rocky battlefield.

“Ding-dong! Forest Lizard defeated Nosepass, gaining 350 experience points. Level up! Current level: 31!”

“Nosepass is unable to battle. Forest Lizard wins! Since both of Dujuan’s Pokémon have fainted, Zhang Feng is the winner of this gym challenge!”

Hearing the referee’s announcement, Dujuan smiled and recalled Nosepass, then turned to Zhang Feng.

“You truly are a genius trainer worthy of the Libra Badge. This Rock Badge is proof that you’ve conquered the Kanaz Gym. Keep up the good work in the upcoming gym challenges!”

After receiving the Rock Badge from Dujuan’s hand, Zhang Feng bid farewell to the gym leader and returned to the Pokémon Center, entrusting his Pokémon once more to Nurse Joy.

When Nurse Joy learned that Zhang Feng had quickly won the Kanaz Gym, she smiled warmly.

“You’re truly the man Joy from Orange Island believed in—impressive!”

Zhang Feng raised an eyebrow.

After Forest Lizard recovered, Zhang Feng rested at the Pokémon Center in Kanaz City.

Having already captured three Pokémon, he only had two Luxury Balls left.

If he encountered any more Pokémon he desired, he wouldn’t have enough Poké Balls. So, he planned to visit the Pokémon Shop to replenish his supplies.

After spending 100,000 Poké Coins to buy five more Luxury Balls, Zhang Feng stocked up and prepared to continue toward Martial Town.

But as he passed through Kanaz City, a sudden explosion erupted at the nearby museum.

Panic swept through the crowd, and Miss Junsha immediately led the police toward the source of the blast.

Faced with this unexpected event, Zhang Feng clenched his Luxury Balls and rushed to the museum.

Upon arrival, the museum was engulfed in flames, with many staff members fleeing the burning building.

“Milotic, use Rain Dance! Let’s put out the fire!”

Since Milotic was with him, Zhang Feng would not stand idly by.

At his command, Milotic softly sang, and through the power of Rain Dance, the once clear sky quickly darkened with gathering clouds.

Soon, heavy rain poured down, concentrating over the museum, gradually extinguishing the flames.

Just as the fire was about to be fully doused, a harsh voice rang from above the museum.

“How dare you interfere with Team Ocean’s affairs? You’ve got some nerve!”

With the voice came a fierce Great Wolf Dog, launching a Shadow Ball straight at Zhang Feng.

In this critical moment, Milotic stepped forward, striking the Shadow Ball back with a powerful Aqua Tail!
