Volume One, Chapter 26: Little Boat
The two of them were utterly surprised to hear Shuyu’s voice. Normally, Shuyu seemed innocent and playful, but she was always reasonable and understanding. Why was she acting so out of character today?
A massive tanker truck lay sprawled across the road ahead, blocking the way entirely—this, no doubt, was one of the reasons they’d chosen such a deserted spot for their ambush. One look at the tires of the tanker truck was enough to tell they were dealing with dangerous people.
The Phantom let out a wild, desperate roar, then broke into increasingly violent coughing. She might not recognize all the members of the Xuanming Palace, but the image of the Second Elder Xuan Shu was etched deep into her memory.
Just then, another deafening explosion sounded, and a vast wave of energy surged outward, shredding the tent to pieces in an instant. It was the defensive array Xu Chen had set up—someone had just blasted right through it.
Liu Yi strode to the front and called back, “Hah, you’d better run now, or you’ll end up dead last.” The remaining team members snapped to attention and hurried after Liu Yi. Although no one had said there would be penalties or scores for coming in last, ending up at the back was hardly something to be proud of.
Still, Gao Yang was worried. His brilliance was hard to hide—what if someone recognized him?
Just as success seemed within reach, Cui Bin suddenly felt himself blocked by an overwhelming force.
“Qin, the judge and his family just boarded the flight to France,” the man in the suit behind Qin Lei reported in a low voice.
If he spoke out and implicated his superiors, there would be no one left to save him.
He wasn’t lying—many had once tried to swagger in front of him, only to end up trampled under his feet.
Su Lingxi was so angry that she couldn’t help but stamp her foot lightly, both cheeks puffed out in indignation, looking just like a hamster with its mouth stuffed full.
“Ivette! What do you think you’re doing?” Amarante nearly lost the last shreds of his composure. His secret sword trembled in its scabbard. If not for the great effort he exerted to restrain himself, the blade would have already flashed toward Ivette.
He was neither relying on experience nor parroting from a script—he had clearly thought things through and approached them with intelligence.
“Artistic wedding photos? So you mean Wang Fang will be hugging and cuddling your husband right in front of you, whispering sweet nothings? Can you stomach that?” Liu Ping arched her eyebrows, pursed her lips, and shook her head with a faint smile.
“So?” Staring at Bai Mo City’s serious expression, Qinghuan suddenly had a very bad feeling.
Heaven knows, when Xu Miao said this, she was utterly sincere, with not a hint of impropriety—yet the man’s face darkened immediately, his whole demeanor radiating discontent.
Mom spent most of her time in the hospital with Dad, so this apartment was usually unoccupied. It was only natural for Li Wei to move in.
Chengdu was convicted of bribery, accepting bribes, perverting the law for personal gain, participating in a mafia-style organization, and intentional homicide; he was sentenced to eighteen years in prison.
Ba Yingqiu paced back and forth in the room, as if collecting a hundred North Cold Bees was several times more difficult than plucking stars from the sky.
This time, both the Allied Forces and the Black Hand had chosen to fight their decisive battle in the royal city. After displaying their formidable strength in the first round, both sides proactively proposed peace talks. One wonders what they would think if they realized their opponents were harboring exactly the same intentions.
Roughly fifty thousand soldiers of the Quanzhou Army were undergoing training. Standing on the command platform, waving the command flag with energy and confidence, was the veteran general Huang Zhong.
In order for Nevsky to return to the Snow Mountains, he had to pass through the dwarves’ territory. Over the years, the dwarves and the barbarians had always coexisted peacefully, and since he was merely passing through, the dwarves would probably have no objections.
Astonishingly, standing before them were five enormous Stone Spirits, each with skin of solid rock and wielding massive stone weapons.
After all, the bodies of mages were inherently frail, while the golden sphere of magical energy in Long Chen’s hand was pure, solidified spiritual power.
They didn’t immediately rush out to destroy the teleportation gate—instead, they shouted and screamed in panic.
Wu Jun sprang into action. Nearly five thousand archers and crossbowmen took up positions along the riverbank, while another five thousand began hauling provisions.
Kelgen dodged the second crossbow bolt, but the Elven King was visibly enraged. There were still plenty of bolts left at his feet, but with every passing minute, more of his people were killed or wounded. Even his royal capital, the Sacred Tree, was on the verge of being consumed by fire.
“Where exactly did the battle take place? Take me to see it,” Du Yujia pressed further.
At that moment, seeing Xu Yang intervene, Lu Yiyi’s face lit up with gratitude, and she hurried to hide behind him.
“All right,” Hao Xin replied cheerfully and went out. She planned to visit the barefoot doctor in the village. Though the village doctor could only handle minor injuries, he was quite knowledgeable about medicinal herbs.
“That’s right! Just think about it—if you happened to walk by, had money, and saw such beautiful clothes, wouldn’t you buy them?” Gu Yuwei asked.
The guards hurried to open the door. Shi Zongxin looked up to see Lei Lie approaching with a fawning grin. Maintaining his composure, Shi Zongxin shook his head slightly and smiled.
He grabbed Ye Ye and threw her over the wall, then nimbly leaped up himself, hooked a hand over the edge, and flipped over with ease.
