Chapter Eight: The Reemergence of the Extraordinary

As usual, Chen Xian picked up his telescope and stepped out onto the balcony, ready to observe the starry sky.
With the advancement of Great Xuan Technology, artificial satellites had been launched into space decades ago.
In recent years, humans had even been sent into space, and several astronauts had become household names.
All of this was perfectly normal until three years ago, when Great Xuan suddenly issued a law.
All citizens of Great Xuan were forbidden from using or privately possessing astronomical observation equipment to observe the stars. Violators would be severely punished for leaking Great Xuan’s aerospace secrets.
At the same time, within Great Xuan’s borders, all astronomical telescopes and recording devices were confiscated, and even the manufacturers were ordered to cease operations.
It was as if overnight, the starry sky had become a secret realm, no longer open to the common people.
The official reason given by Great Xuan was to prevent foreign entities from spying on aerospace secrets, necessitating the seizure of all astronomical observation devices.
Such a reason was not believed by anyone—not even elementary school children—and naturally, Chen Xian found it absurd.
Yet Great Xuan offered no further explanation, instead maintaining complete silence.
This attitude provoked endless speculation and curiosity among the populace.
Some civilians, unable to quell their curiosity and possessing relevant skills, secretly crafted telescopes to observe the stars.
Every one of these individuals was caught by the enforcement squad; three years had passed with no news of them.
The Great Xuan enforcement squad was established specifically to deal with martial artists and had never previously enforced laws against ordinary citizens.
Among those caught were many ordinary people, yet the enforcement squad was still deployed.
This extraordinary circumstance baffled countless observers.
Some people voiced opinions that the starry sky was a shared treasure of all humanity and that everyone had the right to observe it; it should not be privatized or turned into forbidden ground.
However, most of these people soon recanted, and those who did not disappeared mysteriously overnight.
It seemed that Great Xuan’s stance was unyielding—they not only solved the problem but also eliminated those who raised it.
Naturally, this instilled fear in others, deterring them from violating this law.
Today in Great Xuan, no astronomical observation instruments can be found on the market or through other channels. The best telescope available is only a ten-power model at most.

The telescope in Chen Xian’s hands was an eight-power model.
He used it every night to observe the stars, driven by curiosity—curious about what was happening in the depths of the cosmos that made Great Xuan so secretive.
“Hmm!”
Suddenly, Chen Xian’s eyes narrowed as a strange figure abruptly intruded into his field of view.
He hurriedly adjusted the telescope and focused on the peculiar figure.
“Shh!”
When Chen Xian got a clear look, he drew a sharp breath.
Before him was a humanoid silhouette, but without any clothing; instead, countless scales covered its body, emitting a cold, moonlit glow.
It was this glow that allowed Chen Xian to discern its features clearly.
The figure stood over two meters tall, muscles coiled and bulging, with blood-red eyes flashing a ferocious, bloodthirsty light, looking terrifying beyond measure.
Yet despite such a fearsome visage, the cold white glow imparted a desolate and sacred aura, inspiring awe rather than dread in Chen Xian.
His heart tightened with unease:
“What exactly is this?”
“Could it be a creation from some laboratory? Does current technology really possess such capabilities? Or does this figure possess supernatural power?”
Great Xuan had never confirmed the existence of supernatural power. If it were before, Chen Xian would not have believed in such things.
But now that supernatural power had manifested within himself, he could no longer deny its reality.
Moreover, since acquiring this power, Chen Xian had never thought he was the sole possessor of it.
Thus, compared to a laboratory creation, he was more inclined to believe this figure was a being wielding supernatural power.
“Then, how strong could this supernatural being be? What kind of supernatural power does it possess? Could these scales be a manifestation of its power?”
The more Chen Xian thought, the more puzzled he became. Yet he knew this wasn’t the time for speculation.
He raised his telescope once more and continued observing.

“Damn it, the enforcement squad is on my tail too closely; there’s no time to take this thing out!”
Yu Qijiu shouted angrily, clutching the object tighter.
This time, they had paid a heavy price for this item.
His companions had all been captured by the enforcement squad; their fates unknown. Now only he remained.
If he couldn’t get this out of Great Xuan, all their efforts would have been in vain.
His scales were stained with blood, yet he kept running desperately.
“Damn it! These enforcement squad people have no sense of martial honor; they gang up on the weaker.”
While running, Yu Qijiu cursed inwardly.
With his current strength, as long as it wasn’t against the few invincible martial legends of Great Xuan—the Grandmaster of Strong Energy—he could fight any opponent one-on-one.
But sadly, the enforcement squad’s Great Xuan martial artists not only wielded firearms but also swarmed him mercilessly upon spotting him, disregarding all martial dignity.
No matter how strong he was, he couldn’t withstand such overwhelming odds.
Now the enforcement squad trailed him relentlessly, and for some unknown reason, the object he carried could not be copied or stored by any technological device, forcing him to carry it personally.
Otherwise, he would have copied it on his phone and discarded the hot potato long ago.
If the chase continued, they would catch up eventually.
Yu Qijiu’s heart was filled with anxiety. He knew that if caught, he would lose all chance of getting the item out of Great Xuan.
Ahead, a bird’s nest in a large tree caught his eye, brightening immediately:
“This thing can’t be photographed or stored, and with the enforcement squad so close, there’s no time to copy it. This is the only way.”
He thought quickly and tossed the object into the bird’s nest.
Then, he sprinted off in another direction, creating a huge commotion that drew the enforcement squad’s attention away.
However, Yu Qijiu did not realize that an observer had witnessed the entire scene—the moment he threw the object into the bird’s nest—through a telescope.
